New designs!

I have been working over the last few weeks on a number of projects: some larger prints, some new card designs and a commission for a couple of friends (more on that when it's finished). I have finally been able to add some of my new cards to Etsy. Am hoping to add a couple of the larger prints in the next few days.

piles of lino

I love lino offcuts.

Sunday morning market

I was down at the Sunday Morning Market on Chatsworth Road in Hackney yesterday sharing a table with bhmakes. It was a really fun experience and we had good sales. We're going to be at a few more markets in the near future. I have added a pane on here which lets you know where we'll be if you fancy coming down to say hello.

Geometrics

The result of my adventures into patterns have been some geometric patterns which I have converted to cards and gift wrap to sell on my Etsy. Need some slight tweaking but I like them. Going to try making some large scale prints over the next few weeks.

James Brown

I helped out bhmakes at the Designers/Makers market in Hackney yesterday. One of the other stalls was a printmaker, James Brown, who had some really good linocut posters which I felt evoked propaganda posters with the colours and styles used. I checked out his website today and I absolutely love his geometric linocuts - so inspiring. You should check him out: http://generalpattern.blogspot.com/

Revolutionary Mexican prints

Ignacio Aguirre, Emiliano Zapata, the great leader of the revolutionary peasant movement, 1948, Linocut

Jose Guadalupe Posada, The Skeleton of Pascual Orozco, 1912, Photorelief

Arturo Garcia Bustos, 28 Years of fight against imperialism, 1947, linocut

A little while ago I went to the Revolution on Paper exhibition at the British Museum. I love the idea that art and printmaking were used as a way to communicate revolutionary ideas to the people. It was incredibly inspiring and one of the principle reasons I began printmaking. I would love to be able to produce work which is somewhere near to being this good one day.

Space

This is something I worked on this afternoon with the idea of making a card and some wrapping paper. Came out pretty well I thought.
